+ Hair Tip: Heat Protecting Products For Hair

+ Protecting your hair from heat damage is a very important step in hair care. It is also one thing that most stylists will tell you people don't do enough of at home. Most of the popular hair companies make some kind of heat damage protector for use when flat ironing, curling, or blow drying hair. Here are three that I like:

Carol's Daughter Macadamia Heat Protection Serum: $18
+ Silk Element's Heat Protection Spray: $9
Tresemmé Thermal Creations Heat Tamer Spray: $5

Not only does it prevent damage and breakage on your natural hair, but it also increases the lifespan of your Sweet Locks! Do you use heat protectors? If so, what kind?

+ Want Her Look? : Kerry Washington's Sleek Style

kerry washington scandal olivia pope hair

+ Is anybody else addicted to the hit TV show "Scandal"? I'm addicted! As well as equally addicted to the show's star, Kerry Washington, aka  Olivia Pope. I've always thought that Kerry was gorgeous, but last year we saw her out more and on red carpets looking more stunning than ever!

+ I love these sleek looks by Kerry, which show off her lovely strong facial features. You can get this look by using our "Sweet and Straight" Sweet Locks Hair. We'd recommend getting what is called a versatile sew-in, which is a method that leaves portions of your hair out to cover the sewn wefts, so that you can wear it down, or pull it into a lovely updo like Ms. Washington!

P.S.  Scandal returns on January 10th! Can't Wait!

STAY SWEET,
Nichole

+ Brazilian Hair Care Tips: How To Maintain Your Locks

sweet locks virgin brazilian hair

  • Heat protector is great for keeping your hair sweet! Prior to flat ironing/straightening or wanding your SL's and natural hair, we suggest that you spray heat protector on it. This will stop the heat from damaging your hair, leaving it healthy and shiny instead of dry, brittle & broken! This can be found online or in your local beauty supply store from various brands.
  • To maintain full, fluffy, bouncy, non-greasy hair, wash or condition wash (co wash) your SL's every1-2 weeks as needed.
  • When installing your SL's we suggest that you try not to cut the wefts, but to continue sewing it around, as this will help avoid shedding when combing your hair once installed. However, you may need to cut the hair as you get to the top for whichever parting you wish to have done [which is totally fine!].
  • You should use a wide tooth comb and/or wig brush for use on your SL's.
  • Recommended products to keep your SL’s moisture, luster, shine, and help protect hair from environmental damage & exposure and styling tools. Please note that you do not have to use these products if you already have products you are familiar with, they are just suggestions as these are the products we use to keep our hair looking great.
